Before growing out hair from every corner of his head, Daniel Bryan was a modestly-pushed technical wizard whose United States title reign took a backseat to much of WWE's standard gaudiness. Six weeks before WrestleMania, Bryan found out that he would be working with Sheamus for the belt come WrestleMania.

Bryan later found out that Sheamus was presented with two candidates for a WrestleMania opponent, Bryan and Rey Mysterio. Sheamus chose Bryan, and the future YES! Movement leader actually joked to him that he should've picked Mysterio, which would have lessened his chances of the match being bumped to the pre-show.

Turns out, Bryan's got a sharp Spidey sense. At the Raw six nights before WrestleMania, Sheamus and Bryan sat in a room with the entire WWE roster and staff, listening to John Laurinaitis announce that their match was being placed on the pre-show. As Bryan later lamented, "I knew Sheamus should have chosen Rey."
