10 Former Midcarders Who Could Return To WWE As Main Eventers In 2015

The return of the repressed.

How is it that some of the most talented and charismatic people never make it out of the midcard in WWE? Well, there are lots of reasons for this. First of all, there are only so many main event spots to begin with and not everyone can take one. Then there are the wrestler's shortcomings and weakness. Some wrestlers, for all of their ability, simply don't have what's required of a WWE main eventer. People can (and will) rag on John Cena for being a 'terrible wrestler' but wrestling is just a small part of what is expected of a WWE main eventer and a face of the company. Cena might not have the prettiest arm drags or be the best seller, but he does more charity work, sells more merchandise and makes more personal appearances than anyone on the WWE roster. There are those who just simply don't have the drive, determination and patience to do what someone like Cena, Randy Orton or CM Punk does. Of course, another thing that can stop a midcarder from progressing to the main event is the dreaded 'backstage politics'. The WWE is a shark tank and everyone wants to be on top. So along the way expect to be stabbed in the back, buried and ribbed by your co-workers. Some wrestlers can't take this or react negatively too it and are thus punished by the office, usually ending up working dark matches or putting other, less talented wrestlers over. In the mid-2000's, WWE had a spate of promising midcarders who looked primed for superstardom. For the vast majority of them, it never happened. But with WWE's current lack of roster depth, could WWE turn to the not-too-distant past for their next main eventer?
