One year after winning the King of the Ring and giving the promo that would kickstart his career, Stone Cold Steve Austin returned to the PPV as one half of the WWF Tag Team Champions with his opponent on this show, Shawn Michaels. Both men were feuding with the Hart Foundation at the time, and the whole 'enemies but allies against a bigger foe' angle was still pretty interesting way back in 1997.

Austin was an absolute star in 1997 too, and his run of matches on WWE supershows that year is a conveyor belt of excellence. This match against Michaels was the only thing of worth on a show that featured singles matches such as Crush vs. Goldust and Mankind vs. Jerry Lawler.

The match was even throughout, as Michaels wanted to show that he was every bit as good as this hot new thing and Austin was quite simply in the form of his life. The finish is very Attitude Era-esque, however, as both men take it in turns to deck referees because reasons. We'd have to wait until WrestleMania XIV to get a fair finish out of these two.
