When it comes to tag teams, opposites attract.

When you think of the greatest tag teams in the history of wrestling, certain names immediately spring to mind. Iconic ass-kickers like The Legion of Doom and The Steiner Brothers; synergistic units like The British Bulldogs and The Hart Foundation; or mirror image partnerships like The Hardys and The Dudley Boyz.

But tag team wrestling isn't always at its best when two partners share a familiar look, a kindred style, or similar level of ability; some of the most memorable pairings were the complete antithesis of each other. In fact, many of these duos went on to have great success, despite their obvious differences.

Over the next ten pages, we've laid out the most memorable examples of WWE's oddball unions, showing just how successful a team can be when opposites attract. Whether it's young teaming with old, big tagging with small or simply two rivals forced to join forces in the pursuit of a common goal, chemistry can often be found in the most unlikely of places.

Born out of a bitter rivalry that also included a heated 'Best of Seven' series, Sheamus and Cesaro seemed like a bizarre pairing on paper in 2016. Nevertheless, with the deciding seventh bout ending in a stalemate, Raw GM Mick Foley decided to place the rivals in a tag team.

With a Tag Team Title shot as bait, the newfound partners begrudgingly agreed. After feuding with champions, The New Day, for several weeks, the team of Sheamus and Cesaro did the unthinkable, bringing New Day's record breaking title reign to an end.

After losing the titles a month later, cracks began to emerge in the relationship once more. Nevertheless, they stuck it out and a feud with the returning Hardy Boyz soon followed, ultimately resulting in a second title reign for the unlikely duo.

The rivalry with Team Xtreme also saw 'Sheasaro' turn heel. As rulebreakers, the team began to become more of a cohesive unit as weeks progressed. With excellent matches, a physical style and solid work ethic, the offbeat pairing surpassed all expectation and has become a valued addition to the tag division.
