10 Misfit WWE Tag Teams That You'll Never Forget
9. William Regal & Eugene
While the Eugene gimmick was insulting at times, annoying on occasion and offensive at it's worst, it's hard to deny the character's popularity during the first year of the run in 2004.
Brought in as Eric Bischoff's supposed nephew, WWE went in a completely new direction portraying the Eugene character as "special". Placed under the tutelage of William Regal, Eugene was presented as a wrestling savant.
Incredibly, Raw's most unlikely superstar even shared the stage with the likes of The Rock, Triple H and Chris Benoit throughout the summer of 2004. As a result, he got over with the fans in a big way.
When he began teaming with Regal, their pursuit of La Resistance's Tag Titles was a welcome one. After watching their on-screen relationship develop over the course of six months, the crowd reacted positively when the duo did eventually raise the Tag Team gold in November 2004.
Unfortunately, Eugene would soon suffer a ruptured patellar, which brought their 62 day run to a premature end.
