10 Most Iconic Masks In Wrestling History
8. Los Villanos
There are many famous families in the wrestling world, and in lucha libre - where second- and third-generation stars are more common than they are in the U.S. - the familial aspect is even more pronounced. One family that unfortunately gets overlooked, though, are the Mendozas - lucha legend Rey Mendoza and his five sons, known to the wrestling world as Villanos I through V.
The Villanos may be best known for the brief stint that Villano IV and Villano V had in WCW, but in Mexico, the whole quintet was well known - especially Villano III, who battled Atlantis in one of the greatest matches in lucha libre history.
The brothers were also known for their unique masks - pink stockings that covered their entire faces (except the mouth, which meant that Villano III ended up doing a lot of chin bladejobs), along with an "X" symbol and, in some cases, a roman numeral that denoted which member of the team they were. Even though the heyday of the Villanos is long gone, their masks still stand out as iconic.
