10 Most Iconic Masks In Wrestling History

9. Vader

Though Vader wore a mask for the bulk of his career, he was never the prototypical masked wrestler. Unlike most other stars who choose to conceal their identity, Vader never really had his face obscured by the mask. He would also frequently appear - and sometimes even wrestle - without wearing it. Fully dodging tradition, he even lost a mask-versus-mask match and continued to wear it.

In Vader's case, his unique head-strap was all about one thing - intimidation. The 450-pound "Rocky Mountain Mastodon" didn't really need any help with that, but the red leather that boxed off his eyes, mouth, and double-mohawk hairstyle managed to make him look even more terrifying. Though Mankind's mask would later take cues from Vader's - using the leather strap motif for an asylum patient feel - Vader's was pure post-apocalyptic warrior.
