Story: Having worked some of their most memorable matches together, Matt Hardy and Adam Copeland became good friends. Matt's longtime girlfriend, Lita was also friendly with Copeland, but that was nothing abnormal, because they were part of a unit who rode together on the many long road trips wrestlers do. Jeff Hardy and Christian were also part of this little gang, but the proverbial hit the fan when Matt was out healing up from an injury. During this time, Lita and Edge got quite close, and would end up seeing one another behind Matt's back. Understandably, Matt was furious about this, and it left quite the chasm in his relationship with both. Why People Believe It: The story is widely publicised, and when Matt Hardy decided to go public with the news, WWE stepped in and relieved him of his job. Eventually, they would hire him back and make a storyline of the whole mess, but Matt's career arguably hasn't recovered since the whole sordid affair.
