We're six months in to 2018 and already, there has been an abundance of memorable moments in and for the wrestling industry.

Chris Jericho for example, who is still officially signed to a WWE contract, has continued to make semi-regular appearances for New Japan Pro Wrestling and is even their current IWGP Intercontinental Champion. A further example is the growth and progression of NXT, with NXT UK being unveiled just last week. This goes to show how much professional wrestling has evolved from what it used to be.

WWE are continuing to break boundaries with working relationships continuing to develop with promotions in the United Kingdom, North America, and now Japan. These agreements have went down an absolute treat among fans and wrestlers alike, as championships from WWE have been defended in these promotions and vice versa.

Aside from the moments that are remembered for being monumental, what about those that are remembered for shocking the wrestling world to its core?

It's completely comprehensible as to why a number of these moments happened when they did, but that doesn't take away from the fact that the bulk of fans were left amazed and in some cases, overtly ecstatic. From returns to debuts, match quality to match outcomes, there's been a bit of everything for the wrestling universe.

When you compile the biggest moments from the year in to a single pile, which stands out the most as the most shocking?

When it came to Royal Rumble season, it was essentially guaranteed that UFC's Ronda Rousey would be making her official WWE debut at some point during the show. Even the most casual of fan would have heard the rumours that were circulating.

Following the conclusion of the historic first-ever women's Royal Rumble match that saw Asuka come out victorious, the 'Empress of Tomorrow' found herself being confronted by both the Raw and SmackDown Live! Women's Champions. With a classic post-Rumble staredown in progress, the former UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion strolled out to the stage as the crowd came unglued.

The notorious striker proceeded to point at the WrestleMania 34 sign many, many times, and had an awkward handshake with Stephanie McMahon. At the time, everything about this seemed strange, especially when it was revealed Rousey wouldn't be challenging for either of the titles.

Even though it was a given that she would be debuting at the pay-per-view, it was still monumental to see Ronda in a WWE ring. With two televised in-ring appearances under her belt, the 'Baddest Woman on the Planet' has shown how much she's learned during training. The majority of fans were left dazzled throughout her debut bout at the Show of Shows as she proved she has exactly what it takes to succeed under the WWE banner.

Plus, that armbar looks rather nasty, doesn't it?
