10 Observations From An Evening With Kurt Angle

Macaroni cheese, Chyna's d*** and Grado. Just your average evening with an Olympic gold medalist.

After winning the Olympic Gold Medal for wrestling in 1996, Kurt Angle soon made the move to pro wrestling, becoming a household name as part of the WWF during the Attitude Era and for the last decade has been the biggest name in TNA. Along the way he has won everything there is to win in wrestling and has stolen several WrestleManias.

Last week I got the chance to head along to Triple M Promotions' An Evening With Kurt Angle and seriously, how could I not go and see and meet a legend like Kurt Angle?

With his in-ring days coming to a close, this was going to be the first opportunity UK fans had to hear stories about Angle's career, ask questions and, of course, quiz him on whether he'll be going back to the WWE for his final match.

Here are ten observations from the evening about stories Kurt told, how the event was run and what you can expect from a Triple M Promotions event when one comes to your area of the UK.

10. Full Course Meal

Having run various Evening With and Q&A style events in the past, I was always used to there being a bar where you could buy a drink, then fans could take their seat and get ready to enjoy the show.

I got into the venue, Tynecastle Football Stadium, home of Heart of Midlothian Football Club, and the tables were set up like you were going on a Christmas night out. You€™d be sharing a table with some other fans and maybe get a chance to mingle with people.

Then I saw all these metal trays that had food in them. In between getting your picture or autograph from Kurt Angle, you could order a plate of Steak Pie and Potatoes or a carb overload of Mac 'n' Cheese and Chips. I couldn€™t decide whether this was insanity or the best placement of food I€™d ever experienced. I had a pizza to devour later so, sadly, I can€™t comment on the quality of the meat and carbs.

In my experience, these type of evenings with wrestlers feel more like an event when they€™re held in a nightclub or a theatre rather than a football suite, but props to Triple M for giving people food and drink to choose from if they wanted to have their dinner during the show. It was certainly unique.
