10 Perfectly Over-Booked Wrestling Trainwrecks

In-ring action hasn't been WWE's primary focus for several decades, but nothing gets wrestling fans buzzing like a great match.

It's the reason many fans persist with the company despite the weekly s*** sandwiches they're served by the creative team. Supporters know that for all WWE's flaws, their multi-talented roster will inevitably deliver great bouts every now and then, with New Japan's rise and the indies' enduring appeal further illustrating that such spectacles haven't lost their lustre.

Everyone yearns for for awesome matches, but sometimes, there's nothing more satisfying than watching the wheels come off.

Wrestling is inherently preposterous, and its propensity for disaster is high, guaranteeing an endless supply of so-bad-it's-good moments. Such bouts defy conventional analysis. Picking apart everything "wrong" with them will drive you insane, so you may as well sit back, relax, and enjoy their sheer absurdity. It's only pro wrestling, after all.

These glorious trainwrecks are often as memorable as the sport's classics, and while many live on in countless 'worst of' lists, each retains a certain ironic charm when viewed in a vacuum. Thank you, oh great wrestling promotions, for booking these wondrous piles of nonsense to death...

This oddball clash was conceived for TNA Destination X in 2008, and remains one of the wackiest match stipulations the promotion has ever produced. It saw Team 3D face off against Curry Man and Shark Boy, and while it could easily have devolved into an unwatchable mess, it was the best kind of wrestling shambles.

TNA took the stipulation and booked it beyond parody. We got the babyfaces slapping the former Dudleyz around with fish, Curry Man baiting Bubba with a cake attached to a fishing rod, then taking said rod, an oar, and a sea bass to the groin. Shark Boy channelled 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin throughout (as was his gimmick at the time), and to top it all off, the match finished when Bubba accidentally 3D'd D-Von, having been blinded by what looked like a handful of cocaine.

The whole thing was voiced by Don West and Mike Tenay dropping terrible, terrible fish jokes ("this bout is a long way from floundering!"), compounding a match that deserves to be remembered among TNA's most gloriously stupid moments.
