Given the fact that this year's Survivor Series is to be the 30th edition of the event, WWE is likely to build the show as a monumental event, more than just a "normal" Survivor Series. What better way to position the show as an historic night than by featuring John Cena's attempt at breaking Ric Flair's all-time world championship record?

With Ric Flair having held 16 world championships throughout the course of his career, John Cena is knocking on the Nature Boy's door with 15. Cena's last true chance to tie Flair's record came at SummerSlam 2015 when he defended his US title against Seth Rollins' WWE World Heavyweight Championship in a losing effort.

Since that time, Cena's taken on a lighter schedule and has not been featured in the world title picture, but mark my words, the leader of Cenation has not seen his last championship opportunity.

Given the backstory of how Cena has been unable to defeat the current WWE World Champion, despite challenging him in multiple singles matches throughout the Summer of 2016, WWE could position it as the third time being the charm for Cena. Fans that witness it could potentially be a part of history, if Cena were to win the WWE Championship for a record-tying 16th time.
