Any wrestler who goes six months without screen time - as Bobby Lashley did between July 2007 and February 2008 - runs the risk of being released, but you would think that the man who fought the corner of a future President at WrestleMania would be safe.

After all, Lashley was only kept off television as the result of a nasty shoulder injury, and prior to his getting hurt he was fighting John Cena for the WWE Championship - and, before that, Vince McMahon for the ECW Championship (the chairman doesn't let just anyone beat him up).

So far as we can tell, the company pretty much just lost faith in his ability to get over, focusing their energy instead on a mega-push for Randy Orton and, soon after, CM Punk too. Lashley was suddenly surplus to requirements, however much potential he had.

When you look at what the MMA star has achieved in and out of the squared circle since, though, that decision was perhaps not among the best they've made in the last decade.
