10 Things WWE Fans Need To Know About Alundra Blayze

7. WWE Brought Back The Women's Title For Her

The WWE Women's Title was treated like a joke for a number of years in the 1970s and 1980s. They finally realized it wasn't adding much to the show, so they retired it in 1990. Then they brought it back in 1993 for a main reason: To put over Madusa aka Alundra Blayze as the face of the division. It was a move that was good for her because she wasn't wrestling much in WCW, so when WWE came calling it gave her more of an opportunity to wrestle. Her first reign as Women's Champion lasted 342 days before dropping the title to Bull Nakano, who was her best opponent among the women in WWE. She also feuded with Bertha Faye quite a bit although there wasn't that much depth in the division. During her two year run in WWE, she won the women's title three times. She competed at WrestleMania once at WM10 in New York City when she beat Leilani Kai to retain the Women's Title. She never lost the Women's Title. In fact, she claims she still has it. More on that story on the next page.
