10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Dusty Rhodes

Who else could have been so over wearing polka dots!?

Tributes and words of both mourning and praise have been plastered all over social media since it was revealed that the legendary 'American Dream' Dusty Rhodes had passed on to wrestle in that great big ring up in the sky. In amongst the obvious condolences towards the man's family, including WWE stars Goldust and Cody 'Stardust' Rhodes, it's somewhat pleasing to imagine the big man preparing for a match up there with the likes of Kerry Von Erich, one announced by Gorilla Monsoon or Gordon Solie. Memories are all wrestling fans now have left of Dusty, one of pro wrestling's true greats. Not only was the man a renowned in-ring performer, but he also worked extensively as a booker, and even had spells as an announcer and authority figure for the likes of WCW, TNA and on WWE's NXT program. In some way, now may be the best time for his son, Cody to retire the Stardust persona, returning to being himself and honouring his dad. There's bound to be a lot of emotion in WWE right now, especially considering Dusty acted as almost a father figure to many other fledgling young stars at both NXT and the WWE Performance Center. Far from being a negative piece, this article instead focuses largely on the positives that Rhodes managed to bring to wrestling, some of which WWE would rather fans didn't really remember, as it happened outside their control. There is some personal stuff in there too, which the company may hope people don't focus too much on, but it nonetheless deserves to be mentioned.
