10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Eddie Guerrero

10. He Was In Constant Pain During The Last Year Of His Life

We all know that wrestlers pay a price for doing what they do. Eddie Guerrero was no stranger to injuries, having suffered many over the course of his career. He tore his pectoral muscle in WCW and dislocated his elbow during his WWE debut. He had many more injuries in his career, including shoulder, back and groin problems, which had devastating effects. For the last year of his life, Eddie Guerrero was in agony. There are many wrestlers accounts of what Eddie was like during this period, and most paint him as a man who was fighting very, very hard through serious pain. Kurt Angle mentioned in his RF Video shoot interview that Eddie would beg him not to touch him during matches, because bumping hurt so much. Hardcore Holly, in his autobiography The Hardcore Truth, claimed that Eddie would lie down on the trainer's table backstage all day, only getting up five minutes before his match was due to start, at which point he would have an energy drink and go out and perform. Holly said that one time Eddie was in so much pain that he couldn't tell if he needed to go to the bathroom or not. One thing is certain: Eddie needed time off during the last few months of his life. The WWE schedule is punishing enough, but it must have been especially tough for Eddie, given his deteriorating physical condition. He couldn't ask for time off since he was a top guy and WWE needed him to help draw in Latino markets.
