10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Eddie Guerrero
9. The Extent Of His Addiction
WWE have referenced Eddie's addiction many times before. It was first mentioned in February 2004, as a way to build sympathy for Eddie before his WWE Title match against Brock Lesnar. Eddie openly and honestly talked about his past experiences with drugs and alcohol, endearing him to the WWE Universe even more. The extent of his addiction, however, has never truly been revealed. Eddie was heavily into alcohol, somas and GHB in the late 90s, overdosing twice and nearly killing himself when he fell asleep at the wheel on New Year's Eve 1998. Another time, Eddie almost died when his family found him turning blue and choking on his own vomit. Yes, Eddie's addiction was bad, much worse than WWE would like you to remember. He was fired in June 2001 after he turned up to a Raw taping completely out of it, having to be walked into the dressing room by Dean Malenko and Chris Benoit (who eventually turned him in to Jim Ross for his own good). Who knows how bad Eddie was when he was at his lowest point, but you can be sure that it was a lot worse than the simple case of Eddie having 'some demons', as WWE call it.
