10. Bret Hart Considered Leaving For WCW - In 1989
How does Bret Hart vs. Ric Flair in 1989 strike you? Maybe Bret Hart vs. The Great Muta? How about Bret Hart vs. Sting? These were all possibilities when an unhappy Hart concluded a meeting with an unmoved Vince McMahon in September 1989 regarding Hart's payoffs. Before long, Dungeon trainee Brian Pillman had given Flair's phone number to Hart, and urged him to call "The Nature Boy". Flair was head booker of WCW at the time, and offered Hart $200,000 per year to come aboard, which Hart took under consideration. Days later, Hart was passed off to Flair's boss, the notorious Jim Herd. Herd cut the offer to $156,000 a year, which Hart would say wasn't much more than his WWF deal. Hart ultimately passed on the offer, and the story lives on as a great 'what-if' for the WrestleMania era.
