10 Things You Hate About Modern Wrestling (Thanks To The Attitude Era)

1. PG

Few WWE-related topics spark as much debate as the PG rating.

Though often held up as the main reason for the company's decline, WWE's family-friendly focus has nonetheless helped them wash away much of what was bad about the Attitude Era, creating a safer environment for their employees in the process.

PG has improved the company's public image tenfold and made them a more attractive proposition for advertisers. It makes them a ton of money, and this means that no matter how loud the complaints get, it won't be going away anytime soon.

That being said, the downsides can't be denied. The in-ring product is safer, but more limited than ever. Stories have never been so dumbed down and straightforward. Predictability is rampant, character development is dead, and the list goes on.

Part of the reason PG is so frowned upon, particularly among older fans, is that it's the Attitude Era's polar opposite. The current product is so far removed from what those fans grew up on that it may as well be a different company, and some won't ever grow to accept it.

In their eyes, WWE have lost their edge, and it can never be regained under the current rating.
