Rumours are rife that WWE could be set to resurrect the brand extension, with Shane McMahon leading one roster, and The Authority the other. This would see the company return to the structure used between 2002-2011, where one crew of Superstars were exclusive to RAW, and the other to SmackDown. PWInsider's Mike Johnson is reporting that the company has been holding internal discussions about bringing the brand split back in recent times, with Shane defeating The Undertaker at WrestleMania setting it all up. Johnson reports that Shane O'Mac would take control of RAW, and The Authority would take the reigns on SmackDown. A brand shakeup is just what the company needs after a sustained period of horrible booking. Fastlane was so bad that #CancelWWENetwork returned from the dead, so the powers that be need to do some serious work to get bewildered fans back on side. Bringing back Shane McMahon HAS to be just the start of monumental things to come. It would also give us a reason to watch SmackDown. The Thursday night show is nothing more than a RAW highlight reel separated by a couple of matches. As the old saying goes, competition (between both brands on this occasion) breeds success.
