10 WCW Successes Nobody Talks About

6. Booker T Breaks Out

Another WCW success story, Booker T broke out from the shadow of tag-team wrestling to become one of the best workers in the business. In 1998, there were few upper-mid-card wrestlers with the forward momentum of Booker T, and it's great that his hard work was rewarded with a World Title run just a few years later. When scouring the WCW roster in the late-90s, Booker is one name fans routinely picked out as a guy who could make it in WWE, which he eventually did. Again, credit where it's due, WCW played to Booker's strengths when he first started flying solo, placing him in matches against the likes of Chris Benoit, Rick Martel and Bret Hart. Not often mentioned when fans discuss the career of Booker T, is just how great some of his solo WCW work was. It's a shame that he wasn't given a run with the World Title earlier, and in fact most of his main event work came during the last year of the promotion's existence, but the chaos going on behind the scenes at WCW shouldn't take away from the great matches Booker was having against Scott Steiner, Jeff Jarrett and others. He even managed to pull decent bouts from a disinterested Kevin Nash, which deserves praise.
