One of the most incredible early appearances of a future wrestling icon came during a segment involving 'The Million Dollar Man' Ted DiBiase. In the late 1980s, the WWF's resident fat cat would take great pleasure in paying off members of the audience to perform demeaning tasks - all of this to prove to the world that "everyone's got a price".

When the WWF came to Battle Creek, Michigan in 1987, the town's favourite son was sat in the audience. With the cameras rolling, a young Rob Van Dam was standing at the guard rail and found himself plucked from the crowd to take part in the ring. Hand-picked by DiBiase, Van Dam stepped through the ropes and was asked by DiBiase to kiss his Million Dollar Foot.

The best part of the entire story is that absolutely nothing about this segment was pre-planned. RVD legitimately was a fan, genuinely picked out of the audience at random. As such, Rob was caught up in the moment so much that he accepted DiBiase's first offer of a hundred bucks to kiss his feet.

RVD did the deed, grabbed his $100 and left the ring, slapping Virgil on the shoulder along the way. Ten years later, that boy had become a man and was standing in the ring on Raw.
