10 WrestleMania 33 Matches Fans Want (But Won’t Get)

Well, we've waited this long... we'll just have to wait a little longer.

The Royal Rumble is just a couple of weeks away, and that means that WrestleMania is right around the corner. The good news is that this year's WrestleMania is just about guaranteed to blow last year's out of the water - WrestleMania 32 was plagued by injuries, unavailability, and the compulsion to put Roman Reigns over in the main event. This year, we're more than likely looking at a stacked lineup and a less annoying position for Reigns - plus, Shane McMahon may not even wrestle.

That said, there's still a lot of uncertainly around the show. One single match has been announced (The Big Show versus Shaquille O'Neal) and two more have been largely insinuated (Triple H versus Seth Rollins and Goldberg versus Brock Lesnar), but the rest of the card is completely up in the air. Reportedly, WWE has recently shifted plans greatly, with some of the bouts that were rumored to be done deals now being reconsidered - so what can we expect?

Not these 10 matches. The playing field may be wide open, but when it comes to WWE, perhaps it's best not to get our hopes too high. So what's off the table now, and what was always a pipe dream?

Here are 10 WrestleMania 33 matches fans want but won’t get...

10. Kevin Owens Vs. Finn Balor

Finn Balor will always have the honor of being the first-ever Universal Champion, but that's about all he's got right now. In the same match where he won the belt, he suffered a severe shoulder injury, forcing him to vacate the title the very next day. He's still on the shelf following surgery, but he's expected back in early March.

That, potentially, could put him back in time for a WrestleMania match with Kevin Owens, who won the vacant Universal Championship eight days after Balor relinquished it. There's a perfect built-in story, with the babyface champion who was never beaten coming to get his belt back from the heel who held it in the interim.

Unfortunately, all signs are pointing toward Owens losing the belt to Roman Reigns at the Royal Rumble. It looks like "The Prizefighter" will be feuding with Chris Jericho come WrestleMania, likely with the U.S. Title in the balance. As for Balor, WWE may save his return for after WrestleMania, as they've been known to book like that.
