10 WrestleMania Matches That Shouldn't Have Sucked (But Did)

Great match on paper doesn't always mean great contest in the ring.

Performing at WrestleMania is the dream of pretty much anybody who has entered the wrestling industry over the past 30 years or so - since creating the event in 1985, Vince McMahon has made 'Mania the place to be. So big is the show, that several wrestling companies elect to routinely invade the area WWE call home for a week, putting on their own events and capitalising from the buzz around wrestling when WrestleMania is in town. Casual and lapsed fans are brought back out of hiding, simply unable to resist the charms of what is assuredly the biggest event on the pro wrestling calendar. 'Mania 31 also promises to be grand, even if there are gripes about how WWE have failed to produce sufficient numbers of genuine top stars over the past few years. Incredibly, there have been hundreds of matches at WrestleMania, and thankfully, many of them have featured amazing performances. On the other side of the coin, there have been battles that aren't so fondly remembered, but that's simply the law of averages, and such thinking is really down to personal preferences of individual fans. Then, there are those bouts that unite the watching audience, as everyone collectively wonders why these matches failed to be great. This list focuses on 10 such examples where magic was waiting to be made, but things just fell a little short of spectacular.
