10 WrestleMania Rematches That Were Better Than The Originals

When WWE stars didn't need the showcase of the immortals to put on a classic.

WWE pushes WrestleMania as the be-all and end-all of its schedule, the date when all of the storylines and tensions of the previous year reach their conclusions in historic fashion. One only needs to watch WWE for a few years, though, to realize that isn't quite the case €“ yes, WrestleMania is when the eyes of the world are attuned to WWE, but for a variety of reasons, sometimes the show is just the beginning of a story. Matches are cut short due to time constraints on packed WrestleMania cards. Sometimes, specific feuds work better than expected and demand to be continued after the show. In other cases, WrestleMania encounters are first-time affairs, and WWE decides to milk all they can out of certain programs in the ensuing months. Regardless of the reason, we get a lot of rematches after WrestleMania (heck, there was even a Pay-Per-View event named "Backlash" in April for a decade). Here's a guide to the rematches you should seek out to accentuate (or in some cases, help you forget) the first-time bouts. Just a note on the criteria: to be eligible, the match must be a direct rematch of the bout at WrestleMania, with all of the same competitors (though new stipulations are okay). It also has to have taken place prior to the following year's WrestleMania event. Let's go to the list!
