10 Wrestlers Who Should Have Been NXT Champion

3. Tyson Kidd

Tyson Kidd's run on NXT television was a blessing to any of the up-and-comers that he encountered during his time there. It was clear that the man needed nothing to do with a developmental system, but simply hadn't been able to squeeze out a meaningful spot on the main roster. Kidd worked with the likes of Zayn, Neville, and Breeze to add a sense of legitimacy to the NXT brand as it was beginning its TakeOver era. He competed for the top belt, as a wrestler of his experience should have done, but he never won the title.

Kidd winning the NXT Championship would have been less about giving him a better chance to succeed on the main roster, as he eventually found his niche alongside Cesaro. For him to win the NXT Title would have been more about respect for a veteran who was willing to work on television with less experienced competitors, elevating them and the brand itself to an elite level. If by some miracle Kidd returns from his spinal injury, hopefully he will be afforded the respect he clearly deserves.
