10 Wrestlers Who Should Have Been NXT Champion

4. Kalisto

Like many of the entries on this list, Kalisto's main roster career has not been completely devoid of merit. A two-time United States Champion, he brought the belt into WrestleMania 32, albeit on the pre-show. The problem is that since then he has been allowed to stagnate dramatically. The baffling decision to keep him away from the new Cruiserweight division has left him without any true cause, moving in and out of mid-card feuds with the likes of Corbin and Ziggler.

Kalisto arrived on the main roster as a former NXT Tag Team Champion alongside Sin Cara, eventually breaking off on his own as it was clear he was the more exciting of the two. Had he worked longer in NXT however, Kalisto could have made an epic underdog run towards the NXT Championship. Had he actually won it, he could have debuted with the same hype as Rey Mysterio. Instead he's currently just doing some Lucha things.
