It would've been some story for Ray Lloyd to tell had he gone from Mortal Kombat rip off in WCW to phoney state patrol trooper in WWE several years later. That almost happened towards the end of his run in Atlanta.

In an interview with Wrestling Inc, Glacier revealed he was in talks with the then-WWF about making the leap in 2000. Discussions became more serious when Vince McMahon purchased the remnants of WCW. At that point in '01, there was real interest in signing Glacier and completely changing his character to a gimmicky police officer.

One of the biggest stumbling blocks was that Lloyd was sick of the pro wrestling lifestyle and fancied a break. Another was that WWE realised quickly they didn't need to offer as much money as before because they now held all the cards and had monopolised the biz. Both those factors turned Glacier off.

He decided to knock the company back and co-found Turnbuckle Championship Wrestling with Dusty Rhodes instead. That's something Lloyd is proud of now. The chance to learn from a legend like Rhodes and carve his own path in the industry gave him a lot of satisfaction.
