As we've talked about so many times on this very site, there is an unfathomable amount of wistfulness for WWE's Attitude Era that is simply unparalleled in pop culture, and borderline unhealthy in the wrestling community. It's typically hoisted as the greatest time period in the industry's long history, with only the Rock N' Wrestling Era a serious competitor. But let me toss out another, less talked about time in the WWE that deserves at least some consideration when discussing the greatest age in wrestling: Ruthless Aggression. While this era from 2002 to 2007 featured some of the company's biggest stars and greatest matches, it simply doesn't get the same kind of wistful attention as the celebrated Attitude Era. A lot of people, for whatever reason, seem to forget that the period immediately following Attitude was no slouch either. Sure, maybe it wasn't as flashy, but it had some damn fine content on a weekly basis. While the Attitude Era may be remembered more for its theatrics, the Ruthless Aggression Era quietly put together one of the most consistent products in the company's history. The matches themselves easily outclassed anything from 1997 to 2002, with a solid roster of in-ring performers that went out and delivered top-notch shows constantly without ever becoming stale. Also, we didn't have to watch Mae Young give birth to a hand again. So it at least had that goin' for it.
