10 WWE Stars Who Desperately Need To Be Repackaged

Who will be the next Jinder?

Right now, WWE’s main roster has about 100 men and women who are spread out across Raw, SmackDown and 205 Live. As you may have noticed, many of them are not doing so well.

Of course, guys like Roman Reigns, John Cena and A.J. Styles are receiving big pushes and making a ton of money in the process, but they are the exceptions. Almost everyone else could use some sort of tweak to their character. Many could use a complete overhaul.

Take a look at Jinder Mahal for example. Fans may not be gleefully buying into his sudden mega-push, but there’s no arguing he isn’t far better off right now than he was a few months ago. His new character at least gives him a shot at being a relevant player in the coming years. His work in 3MB was certainly never going to do that for him.

For the rest of the company, there was some hope that the Superstar Shakeup would fix things. Besides Jinder (and Apollo Crews, Fandango and Tyler Breeze to a much lesser extent) no struggling talent seems to be getting a fresh look. That's a shame. With good writing and the right act playing the right role, almost anyone can get over. But there are quite a few wrestler on the roster who are pigeonholed and may never get another opportunity to break out. Let's continue to hold out hope.

10. Curt Hawkins

Did you really think a jump to Raw was going to turn things around for Curt Hawkins? DID YOU?

Well if so, that belief had to have disappeared mere moments after his arrival. WWE had him show up on TV, then get knocked out by The Big Show like nobody's business. That set the tone for everything else he's done so far.

Hawkins was released by WWE a few years ago. During his time away, some fans wanted him to come back and get another shot in a non-jobber role. Finally, during the initial brand split, he returned. But, unfortunately, he had to bust out outdated Chuck Norris-like jokes and was pinned in seconds on his arrival. He seemed to be worse off than before. Instead of WWE trying to give him something to work with in his new home on Raw, he's stuck with the old act, which has already proven to be a dud.

Perhaps the best thing for his career at the moment would be to land back in a tag team. A reunion with Zack Ryder (if he jumped to Raw) could make both men relevant again. Neither is going anywhere with their current shtick, but reuniting and gaining a bit of an edge could at least make them an interesting pairing in the tag team division.

It's either that or the two can continue playing characters that are well past their expiration date.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
