10 WWE Superstars Who Could Win A Rebooted King Of The Ring

Running out of old Attitude Era stars to bring back? What about an old Attitude Era star maker?

The King Of The Ring crown and sceptre was an albatross around the neck of many - poor Wade Barrett being the prime example - but for those who could work the gimmick (Macho King Randy Savage, King Booker), it was a shot in the arm.

At its worst it gave us King Mabel. At its best, it elevated Steve Austin.

There’s no reason to think WWE will bring back a format long thought to be out of favour with the chairman. That Said, Vince McMahon must be getting pretty desperate for any idea to reignite WWE’s broken star making machine. A King of The Ring title would give someone bragging rights and drag them out of the mid card malaise, at the very least.

Plus the tournament could be just the gimmick to fill out the card on a dreaded Saudi show - they sort of already did it at Crown Jewel. With few remaining old names to dig up and impress the Saudi Sports Authority, maybe an old brand will do instead? At least until Yokozuna finally stops holding out for more money...

10. Mansoor

This one is of course geographically specific. The crowd in attendance at Super Showdown seemed to be wild for Mansoor’s Battle Royale win. Since then, he’s not even turned up on NXT, let alone troubled the main roster. It seems what goes on in Saudi Arabia, stays in Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi Sports Authority would probably welcome a Roman Reigns style super push for Mansoor, even if it only played out two nights a year.

So if WWE want to to pop a Saudi crowd but don’t want to worry about pesky things like continuity or sustained pushes, why not let Mansoor be King for a day?
