Champions in both The Nexus and The Corre without ever even remotely looking like winners, Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel had the unfortunate dishonour of being mammoth losers for both stables thanks to humbling treatments of the talent and titles.

Backdooring into an original tenure with the titles as part of The Nexus (more on that later), their second reign commenced in dignified enough fashion. It was quickly binned though thanks to their diminished position as extras during the aforementioned pre-WrestleMania drama between John Cena and The Miz. The entire angle devalued the the division to grim new lows. Swallowing much of the blame for all of the lame was Wade Barrett - a leader so sublimely feckless that he failed to dominate WWE with two huge groups in less than one calendar year.

That's not to pin all the blame on the tough-talking former Intercontinental Champion. Even in his absence, Nexus was a busted flush. New leader CM Punk couldn't reverse the curse, even when his obedient members took control of the tag team titles themselves...
