11 WWE Wrestlers Who Lived The Gimmick In Real Life

10. Chris Jericho

The gimmick:

Chris Jericho arrived in WWE on 9 August 1999, when he boldly interrupted a promo by The Rock and dubbed himself, amongst other things, the 'Ayatollah of Rock ‘n’ Rolla'.

That nickname was more than just a catchy slogan, mind. Jericho really did carry himself with the presence of a bona fide frontman, and though he’s since moved on from the Ayatollah spiel, he remains one of the best talkers the company has seen.

In real life:

Rather than simply claiming to be a rockstar, Jericho actually became one. Having met guitarist Rich Ward after a wrestling show in ‘99, Jericho sat in on a few sessions with Ward’s band Fozzy, before eventually being recruited as the group’s frontman.

Fast forward to today, and Fozzy is currently touring its seventh studio album, Judas, the title track of which reached number one on the iTunes Metal chart and number five on the iTunes rock chart.

Meanwhile, he continues to show off that gift of gab as the host of his own podcast, Talk is Jericho. A jack of all trades, both in the ring and out of it.
