12 WWE Monsters Whose Muscles Were Bigger Than Their Skills

Professional wrestling has always been a big man's game. The need to be a larger than life figure who leaps through television screens is a considerable part of what translates into someone becoming a superstar. Vince McMahon's penchant for only pushing workers with cartoonish, muscular physiques to the top of his company has become something of a running joke, despite a decent amount of evidence to the contrary (Shawn Michaels, Daniel Bryan, etc.) When a performer with the body of a greek god comes along who checks all the boxes (promos, charisma, look, passable ring work), that person almost always achieves some level of success in the business. You don't have to be great at everything, but to truly stand out, you need to be exceptional in at least a few of those categories, in addition to having the support of the machine behind you. But for every Hulk Hogan or Lex Luger--men who reached the pinnacle of the industry largely due to their physical appearance--there are those who had high expectations placed on them for no other reason than because they had an intimidating look. Wrestling's past is full of strapping brutes who fizzled out despite being labelled future stars due to the fact that they had very little actual skill. Some of those even managed to attain that stardom, overachieving what their lack of in-ring talent would have predicted, proving you don't always have to be a technical genius to get over in wrestling. So let's take a look at 12 monsters whose muscles were bigger than their skills.
