It did not take long, however, for them to develop followings. With matches like their classic Nitro bout, they showed themselves to be well-rounded wrestlers willing to make the most of whatever they were given from a company transitioning between what they had been in NWA and what they had become as WCW. Benoit and Guerrero were a bit of a throwback to days gone by. Each would have thrived in the environment that Jim Crockett Promotions had created as the NWA flagship in the 1980s. Many fans that had followed WCW since its NWA roots were thrilled to have grapplers like Guerrero and Benoit in the fold. In October €™95, Guerrero and Benoit gave a preview of the rest of their storied careers. Benoit was the term, €œworkhorse,€ personified. He was fast, strong, agile, and psychologically sound. The same words could have been used to describe Guerrero. What separated the two became obvious as their Nitro match wore on: Eddie was savvier, while Benoit was more intense. Both, unquestionably, delivered in one of the Monday Night War€™s best matches from the WCW side.
