5 Biggest Winners & Losers From WWE Raw (Oct 10)
The road to Hell in a Cell is paved with squash match victims.
WWE Raw took a detour through Squash Match City this week with a nine-match show, only five of which went beyond three minutes. Fans got the usual Braun Strowman annihilation and powder puff secondary Cruiserweight match, and while Raw was main evented by a fun Seth Rollins vs. Chris Jericho main event, the rest of the matches were mostly based around storytelling rather than action.
The Women’s and US Title scenes joined forces for an entertaining tag match, Cesaro and Sheamus’ tension continued during the former’s fight with Kofi Kingston, and Sami Zayn and Neville apparently still exist. For the most part, Raw’s matches at least served a purpose, and that’s more than you can say most weeks.
The biggest takeaway, of course, is Goldberg’s imminent return. It has been teased for months, but the former WCW Champion will officially appear on Raw next week to answer Paul Heyman’s challenge. Whatever comes of it, the ball is finally rolling on Goldberg vs. Lesnar, and it looks set to go down sooner or later.
It wouldn’t be Raw without a healthy dose of filler, however, and this week’s episode was crammed with it. From a couple of pointless matches to some dry talking segments that pushed little forward, the show veered in and out of relevance like Hulk Hogan in the 21st century. Regardless, some participants saw their stock soar, while others plummeted.
