What’s going on with these two at the moment? A few weeks removed from one of the most savage emasculation speeches that Stephanie McMahon has delivered in years, her and Mick Foley were seemingly BFFs again last night. They came to the ring to make a couple of matches for Hell in a Cell, and when Chris Jericho tried to play on their apparent tension, Stephanie dressed him down and demanded he respect Foley.

Coming just a few weeks after shredding Foley live on air, this was incredibly jarring. Steph and Mick have seemingly patched things up without explanation, but that’s the schizophrenic nature of WWE storytelling for you. The writers will no doubt find a way to portray Mick as a bumbling idiot again next week, thus giving Stephanie another excuse to devalue his authority, and the cycle continues.

Steph and Mick barely appeared last week, and it’s no coincidence that it turned out to be one of the most enjoyable Raws since the 2016 Draft. They were back to their old tricks this week, however, and if WWE want to turn their flagship show around, they need to figure out what they’re doing with the authority figures. At the moment, nothing about Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley makes any sense.
