5 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Jan 10)

The 'King's' own Royal Rumble.

John Morrison The Miz

Tag-team wrestling is about to launch the biggest of comebacks on Friday nights if recent developments are anything to go by.

John Morrison and The Miz will tangle with New Day for the SmackDown Tag belts, and the likes of The Usos, The Revival, Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode will shore things up elsewhere. If you're a fan of duos action, then FOX may just have you covered during WrestleMania season.

This week's show had more good than bad, and it continued that sweet upward trend set by recent episodes. SmackDown might not be perfect, but it's moving in the right direction and has several stories (Roman Reigns vs. 'King' Corbin, New Day vs. JoMo and Miz, Sheamus vs. Shorty G and Lacey Evans vs. Bayley) that make it an easy watch.

Attention to detail remains a problem for WWE's writers and agents though. They badly need to remind some workers of their character alignment and format matches accordingly. That will help things along during a time of the year WWE can use to set the tone for the rest of 2020...
