GFW's roster mainly consisted of a mix of former TNA talents -- like Nick Aldis (Magnus), Sonjay Dutt, Chris Sabin, and Jimmy Rave -- and indie names like Colt Cabana, Kongo Kong, Chuck Taylor, and Trent Baretta. (Along with a few names from New Japan, like Seiya Sanada and Kushida.)
TNA's roster has always been split between homegrown talents and overpushed former WWE acts. Some of those names, like Drew Galloway, Lashley, and Ethan Carter III, have paid serious dividends for the company, but those are the exceptions, rather than the rule.
