7 Big Questions About Impact Becoming GFW

3. What About That 2015 Invasion?

Yes, GFW already made its presence known in TNA during a two-month invasion storyline. Other than helping build Drew Galloway, all it did was spin TNA's wheels in its umpteenth "control of the company" storyline.

Not only that, but at the time, it was reported by the Wrestling Observer that GFW was TNA's last option to do an invasion angle with. Ring of Honor turned them down, Wrestle-1 in Japan was out (the previously mentioned Russo connection), and AAA's relationship with Lucha Underground precluded any chance of a luchador invasion.

And then, when the GFW invasion was recorded in advance and began airing on television, the Team TNA vs. Team GFW battle hinged on the secret fifth member of Team TNA. It turned out to be Bram... who had been charged with two felony counts of domestic battery and false imprisonment a few weeks before. TNA's savior was anything but heroic. One of the dangers of tape delay.

With all this, did GFW leave a bad taste in fans' mouths the first time around, or will they give the brand another shot now that the company IS really on the line?
