7 Main Eventers Who Flourished In The Midcard

6. Sheamus

After his victory over John Cena in December 2009 for the WWE title, Sheamus did little with the belt, considering most of his matches ended in DQ, resulting in him retaining the championship. He has won several world titles since then and has put on some intense matches with the likes of John Cena, Randy Orton, and the Big Show. However, it was during his second stint as the US Champ that Sheamus shined a little brighter, having competed in some very enjoyable matches including a Last Man Standing Match against Alberto Del Rio and two PPV matches against Cesaro at Payback and Night of Champions in 2014.

His most recent run as one half of the Raw tag team champions is by far some of his best work to date. He and his partner, Cesaro, have great chemistry together inside the ring and the way they were forced into being ‘frenemies’ competing for the belts was enjoyable to watch.

If you ever need proof that Sheamus works best away from the main event, his disasterous last run as WWE champ and leader of the League of Nations should be all the proof you’ll need.
