7 Things You Should Know About WWE Royal Rumble 1993
4. Bret Hart Had A Good Match With Razor Ramon
Bret Hart was booked as a fighting babyface that was going to defend the WWE Championship against all comers. Razor Ramon was relatively new since he only debuted a few months before this. Since WWE needed new heels, he was pushed to the WWE Title match against Hart. Like most Bret Hart matches, it was above average although there really wasn't anything special about it. They just worked a technical wrestling type of match with Razor also tossing in some power moves since he was the bigger of the two men. The finish was really well done. Following a hart pinfall attempt, both guys were down on the mat. Hart ended up tying up Ramon's legs while he was on the map, which meant that he was going for the Sharpshooter while they were on their backs. Hart applied the Sharpshooter from that seated position, Ramon screamed in pain and Hart retained the WWE Title. http://youtu.be/4ZU7LogHJx0 It's actually a bit of a surprise that Ramon didn't really evolve into a WWE Title contender in the years that followed. He was always hovering around the IC Title picture, yet never seemed to break through to that main event level. This is likely his most high profile match as a WWE Title contender, yet most people probably don't even know it happened. The match served its purpose by giving Hart a competitive to help him extend his WWE Title reign.
