7 Times Hulk Hogan Was An Awful Person In The Royal Rumble

Train, say your prayers, and be a total swine.

Hulk Hogan Royal Rumble 1990
WWE

If you’re a wrestling fan who happened to be born in the ‘80s, you will be fully aware of the power of Hulkamania. Hulk Hogan was far and away the biggest star in the wrestling world, and not a year went by without The Hulkster overcoming the odds to defeat a dastardly villain or an extremely overweight individual.

Hulk Hogan was the ultimate babyface, but boy did he cut some corners on his way to success. Hogan was the first man to win the Royal Rumble match twice, doing so in 1990 and 1991, but he did so by going against his good guy mantra and shining role model status. In short, Hogan won because he was a d*ck.

Hogan only ever competed in four Rumbles, but every single one throws up instances where The Hulkster acted like a spoiled brat, either in backstabbing his friends or ruining the night for those that managed to eliminate him. He may have told us to say our prayers and take our vitamins, but following Hulk’s example on the Royal Rumble would only lead to becoming a total jerk.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
