7 Ups And 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Jan 30)

2. Didn't We See This Two Nights Ago?

Nia Jax and Sasha Banks worked a smart little match at the Royal Rumble. Seeing Sasha flattened in little over five minutes was a jarring sight, particularly given her recent successes, but it worked. Nia felt like a monster, and the seemingly injured Boss played an incredibly sympathetic foil.

WWE decided to repeat the match last night, and it didn't come off half as well. Banks made a fiery start by going after Jax's knees, but it didn't work, and she was soon rag-dolled to the outside. The beatdown continued, and Nia went right back after Sasha's injured limb and the bell rang out of nowhere. Apparently the timekeeper decided he'd seen enough, and called a referee's stoppage without any prompt from the official whatsoever.

A sloppy ending to a match that didn't feel half as effective as their Royal Rumble battle. It looks like Sasha is in the midst of a heel turn, as hinted in her earlier backstage segment with Bayley, but this was another case of repetition, repetition, repetition.

WWE can only go to this well so many times before it dries up, and what grounds did Sasha have for a rematch after being so soundly destroyed the night before anyway? The Raw Women's Title scene continues to excel as one of WWE's most compelling divisions, but everything below it is lacking, including this feud.
