The prevailing assumption is that, if and when The Hardy Boyz return to WWE it will be as a tag team, but what if there is more value in bringing both back in as singles competitors? Even by the end of their respective previous runs in the company, the days of Matt and Jeff were behind them, and it has only been the recent Broken renaissance and surge in popularity that has seen the tag team reunited in the ring.

2009 may seem like a long time ago now, but back then, Jeff Hardy may well have been the most popular babyface wrestler in North American professional wrestling. Dave Meltzer recently claimed that at his peak Jeff was more popular than CM Punk, the man who sent him packing from WWE eight years ago when the Straight Edge Superstar was at his most popular. Jeff was a big time star - who could still be a big time star in WWE.

SmackDown Live currently has a major shortage when it comes to babyfaces. John Cena is constantly rumoured to be moving closer to a part time spot, which leaves Dean Ambrose, Randy Orton (how can someone be a face after burning down a guy's home?) and Luke Harper. That roster is crying out for Jeff Hardy.

Jeff would be welcome on both shows, but his presence would be most keenly felt on the blue brand.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
