8 Times Fans Viciously Turned On WWE Wrestlers At WrestleMania

Welcome to Bizarro Land.

Everyone knows that in the wrestling world, fans are king.

Well, it's either fans or Vince McMahon. He's the one with bucket loads of cash and a legion of minions who are likely forced to agree with his every word or else risk being locked away in a dungeon for the rest of their days, so it's probably him.

But fans are pretty important too. Without millions of devoted followers prepared to part with their hard-earned money, WWE would cease to exist - and the boardroom understand this better than anyone. That's why - for the most part - they try their hardest to keep the crowd happy.

Needless to say, they don't always succeed. There are countless examples throughout the promotion's history of fans throwing their toys out of the pram, deliberately going against the grain and booing the men who they were supposed to cheer.

On a handful of occasions, this has even happened at WrestleMania, which will seem like an alien concept to anyone who is, say, less than one-years-old, but depressingly familiar to those who have seen the show before.

8. Roman Reigns Vs. Brock Lesnar (WrestleMania 31)

This is the first of three visits that this list will make to the short and embarrassing history of Roman Reigns being roundly booed at WrestleMania (with number four to be added on 8 April this year).

In 2015, the reason for fans hating Roman can probably be boiled down to the fact that he wasn't Daniel Bryan, who had been in the spot of 'Mania's marquee match the year before after winning the Rumble, and had been defeated by The Big Dog the previous month to set up this bout with Lesnar.

It wasn't the absolute worst reaction Roman has ever got, in all fairness, but it's not a great look when your top baby-face has to be escorted through the crowd by security en route to the ring for fear of him being attacked by an overzealous spectator.

Fortunately, WWE bookers decided to spare their blushes by throwing in a curve-ball at the last second. Thanks to Seth Rollins cashing in Money in the Bank, the abiding memory the Santa Clara crowd went home with was the other member of The Shield winning his first WWE Title.
