8 Ways NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn Will Overshadow WWE SummerSlam

8. The Debut Of Apollo Crews

Apollo Crews may not be as big a name as Brock Lesnar or John Cena, but he might just take their place on the card in the not so distant future. It's clear from the way that he's been promoted that he's going to be introduced down in Orlando as a main event talent, but much of that hinges on how fans respond to him in Brooklyn. NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn will likely be the making of him though, and with a depleted roster thanks to Sami Zayn and Hideo Itami's injuries, Crews has the chance to make a huge impact over the next few months. Being there for the debut of any wrestler is always special (especially when you look back on it years later and they've become a big bame), and Crews has all the tools needed to succeed in both NXT and WWE. He's done incredible work in promotions like Dragon Gate USA in recent years, and regardless of who his opponent ends up being in the Barclays Center, he's no doubt going to be given the opportunity to show of why he's already receiving a pretty big push. SummerSlam on the other hand has a card made up almost primarily of already well established Superstars, or those who have been around for at least a few years by this point. NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn has the advantage then in that it's going to bring something completely new to the table which WWE fans haven't seen before. That's a rarity these days, and if Crews is as impressive as we've all been hearing (he is), then getting to see him perform for the first time at TakeOver is going to be just as big a deal as any marquee match at SummerSlam.
