In the age of modern televised wrestling, particularly in the days of the Monday night wars, wrestlers would frequently jump ship and join other companies if it meant better pay, better opportunities or if they had grown tired of their current employer. It's not so common in the last few years as the only real competitor to WWE is TNA, which most performers will see as a demotion in both rank and pay. Back in the day of ECW, WCW and WWF, offers were constantly being made to talent of other companies in hopes of stealing away valuable performers from the competition. This isn't always the best move to make though, just because a wrestler looks good in a certain promotion, doesn't mean he'll instantly fit in anywhere and be able to replicate the same kind of success he had before. Some wrestlers jumped ship for heftier salaries and iron-clad contracts, but saw their career and legacy reduced to tatters by the time their contract was up. Some jumped due to uncomfortable positions or creative frustrations, only to find themselves caught in the muddle again, but in a different squared circle.
