8 Wrestling Careers Ruined By Jumping To The Other Side

8. Matt Hardy - From WWE To TNA - 2011

Matt Hardy was a definitive part of the tag-team division for many years in WWF, starting from the early 2000's onwards. With his brother Jeff Hardy, he held the World Tag Team Championship 6 times, and later Hardy would win a succession of singles championships such as the Hardcore title, the European Championship, the United States Championship and the ECW Championship. The last few years of Matt Hardy's WWE days saw him in mid-card feuds with MVP and Drew McIntyre, while Jeff was in the main event scene. Due to frustrations with WWE creative, Matt Hardy asked for his release after taking to social media and was granted it. One would think that with Jeff Hardy already in TNA, Matt Hardy would be guaranteed more success at the smaller promotion, but ultimately TNA had very little for Matt Hardy to do. Again in the shadow of his brother, Matt was bounced from feud to feud against mid-carders, mainly used as an enhancement talent or to fill spots in tag-team matches, or stables. Things seemed to be looking up when Hardy was granted a TNA World Heavyweight Championship match against Sting, but he was unsuccessful and was mostly used to further a Jeff/Sting feud. Months later, TNA released Hardy after he received a DUI. Matt Hardy's first stint in TNA proved that jumping ship isn't always the best call.
