8 Wrestling Champions That Left For The Other Side

From Ric Flair to Bret Hart, some huge moves happened for wrestling champions.

A championship in professional wrestling is an important person of hardware because it represents the best in the business. While wrestling is a scripted form of entertainment, the titles that performer's win are supposed to have meaning. Titles in wrestling go back to the early days of the sport. When fans see somebody holding a World Title, they consider that person the best or at least one of the best. At least, that's the idea. We just saw WWE's Night of Champions PPV last month and it was promoted as a show where every title was on the line. That's supposed to draw people into the show. It doesn't always work, but the point is that those titles do mean something. Another thing going on in WWE right now is the WWE Champion Brock Lesnar is absent from programming because of his part time contract. Some fans are upset about it because the champion is supposed to matter a lot and if he's gone that hurts the title. That just goes to show how important the titles are. There are some of these instances of betrayal that are very memorable because they involve some of the biggest names in the wrestling business. Other instances are minor things surrounding titles that are meaningless in the grand scheme of things. Here's a look back at some incidents, mostly from the last 25 years, where somebody was holding a title in one company and then they showed up elsewhere even though they were still the champion. It's the kind of thing that no wrestling company ever wants to have happen, but it's happened to all of them. Here are eight examples of that.
